Hoodia Diet Pills
Hoodia Gordonii came in to light as of late 2004, its ability to suppress appetite without having any stimulant effects gave it an excellent selling point. Hoodia became popular after it was featured on 60 minutes as a new effective diet pill, that didnt have the dangerous stimulant effects or stimulants like ephedra.
Hoodia Gordonii is a South African cactus that is often used by african bushmen to stave off appetite. It has recently been studied for its weight loss effects, and pharmaceutical companies have been trying to isolate its appetie reducing compounds. They are attempting to patent on the compound in the Hoodia Cactus that is responsible for the weight loss, so they can market it as a prescription drugs.
What people are finding so fascinating about this drug is that it is a completely new type of weight loss pill. Scientists believe that hoodia affects the part of the brain that is responsible for appetite and suppresses it. There is currently no other prescription drug or supplement on the market that does it the same way.
So far pharmacutical companies like Pfizer and Phytopharm have been unable to isolate hoodia’s active ingredient. They have spent years and millions of dollars working to find the chemical in hoodia that is responsible for this remarkable weight loss. Companies as of late have been selling hoodia cactus pills, which have basically the same effect as a synthetic version. It may be a while before all of the research comes out and we know if hoodia is the weight loss miracle that it promises to be.
